Harder to find full-time work or permanent jobs?
Fewer uni graduates in 2024 found full-time work, but they had higher pay: Survey
24 February 2025
Fresh graduates harder to find full-time permanent jobs, with the proportion dropping below 80 per cent, according to the latest graduate employment survey. While this is not fresh news, this coincide with a tighter job market and news of large-scale retrenchment, with the latest notable one – JetStar.
Results from the survey showed that less than 80% of graduates secured full-time positions in 2024, down from 84.1 per cent in 2023.
However, those who did find full-time jobs saw higher earnings, with the median gross monthly salary at $4,500 in 2024, up from $4,317 in 2023.

Economists told The Straits Times there could be several reasons why graduates are having some difficulty in landing full-time jobs, such as a mismatch in skills and global uncertainty.
