Job Description
To be responsible for the Profit and Loss of a service with vessel provision. A LM is also akin to an entrepreneur whom we entrust and empower him with capital & funds so that he can operate a profitable service. The aim of the LM is to sustain and grow the business to multiple strings within his geographical scope.
Key Responsibilites
Elect vessels based on optimal intake, considering vessel size, design, port dues, and port constraints.
Choose vessels with optimal speed and bunker consumption, monitoring daily vessel speed and consumption against Time Charter Description (TCD), and comparing with sister ships.
Secure port call berth windows and negotiate terminal contracts, including discounts, rebates, and volume incentives.
Resolve claims (cargo, container, vessel damage) in consultation with the legal team when necessary.
Strategize trade routes by understanding market demand and supply conditions, while collaborating with marketing to anticipate demand fluctuations.
Maintain trade statistics and reports via the business intelligence portal (BI) for informed decision-making.
Monitor competitors, tonnage, and market conditions to adjust utilization and pricing strategies.
Develop differentiated products or increase sailing frequency by expanding service coverage or slot swaps.
Ensure vessel schedule integrity, meeting customer connections and providing accurate updates on ETAs and ETDs.
Manage space allocation and select cargo to optimize Net To Vessel returns.
Work with the marketing team on customer selections and participate in tender exercises.
Implement GRIs, RRs, and CBRs in response to cost increases across managed trades.
Coordinate rate quotations with marketing and manage all agencies involved in vessel operations, cargo bookings, and customer relationships.
Maintain strong client relationships, especially during operational crises, and support overseas agents through active engagement and business travel.
Requirement
Bachelor’s degree in maritime business or business management.
Minimum 7 years’ experience in shipping line involving in trade.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with colleagues.
Be available for out-of-hours work.
Travel required.
Independent and result oriented.
Ability to focus on tasks and analyses situations, systems, and problems.
